Hertfordshire Community Foundation provides a range of grants to support the county's community and voluntary groups.

Household Support Fund for Groups

Grants of up to £10,000

Application deadline: Rolling with an approximate 2-month turnaround time

Funding for groups supporting adults and families in need to access food, fuel and water, wider essentials and preventative support. Funding made available by HCC from the Government's Household Support Fund.

Grants of up to £5,000

Application deadline: Friday 10th April 2026

Grants of up to £5,000 available for voluntary and community groups supporting young people in the Watford area.

Grants of up to £10,000

Application deadline £5,000 grants: Open and rolling with no deadline

Application deadline £10,000 grants: 24th April 2026

Grants available for projects addressing need and deprivation in Hertfordshire, with regular deadlines throughout the year.

Grants of up to £2,000

Application deadline: Rolling with an approximate 2-month turnaround time


Previously known as Warm/Cool Spaces.

Funding for community groups to open their doors wide to their community, made available by Hertfordshire County Council.

Grants of up to £500

Application deadline: rolling with an approximate 2-month turnaround


Grants available to groups to transport residents to their local community activities or community spaces. This includes lunch clubs, essential support and those who live in rural areas.

Green Herts - HCF Sustainability Fund


Grants of up to £1,000

The Green Herts Sustainability Fund helps local Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations build a greener and more sustainable future. With a mix of hands-on training and grants, the fund supports organisations to improve their sustainability in the long and short term.

HAPpy Holiday Activity & Food Programme (HAF)

Funding available for activity providers to deliver Holiday Activities for children in receipt of benefit related free school meals through the HAPpy programme.

Expressions of interest are open until Tuesday 31st March 2026 for providers who are able to deliver in the priority areas where we are looking for new providers.

Strengthening local giving: Reflections from a community visit
On Tuesday 10 February, I had the pleasure of attending a community event in Hertfordshire alongside my colleagues Amanda Jansen, Head of Philanthropy, and Helen Doubal, Head of Grants as well as HCF Trustee Terry Douris. The event brought together leaders from local charities and community organisations, and we were joined by the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer.
HCF chosen as Hertfordshire Constabulary’s charity of the year
Chief Constable Andy Prophet personally chose Hertfordshire Community Foundation (HCF) as the constabulary’s charity for 2026 having visited HCF and hearing first-hand about its work. .
