High Sheriff Awards 2026 nominations open

Celebrating groups using the power of nature to benefit local communities
Hertfordshire Community Foundation is delighted to announce that nominations are now open for the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire Awards 2025/26. These annual awards celebrate the outstanding work of local charities and voluntary groups that make Hertfordshire a better place to live.

This year’s High Sheriff, Nicholas Buxton, has chosen the theme “Nurture through Nature”, recognising the vital role of the natural world in supporting wellbeing, learning and community spirit. Charities and groups whose work uses nature and the outdoors to help vulnerable people and tackle social challenges are encouraged to apply.

Nominations are welcome for organisations and projects that:
  • Use nature to improve health and wellbeing, including targeted therapies for vulnerable groups.

  • Foster inclusion and community cohesion through greater enjoyment of local green spaces.

  • Deliver environmental benefits and improvements with the help of volunteers.

  • Promote sustainability and increase understanding of the natural world.

Deadline for nominations: Monday 6 October 2025 (5pm)
