Action Learning Groups

The Action Learning 2021 programme for emerging chairs is now open for applications

In 2020 we were proud to introduce Action Learning Groups as part of our programme of support for good governance, alongside our Better Boards trustee training programme. Better Boards Action learning is an opportunity for Hertfordshire CEO's and Chairs to join one of our tailored groups, run by qualified Better Boards Action Learning facilitators, Sue Pearlman and Adrienne Arthurs.

We are now very excited to be launching a new category of Action Learning in 2021...

Are you an emerging Chair of a board of Trustees? Great, we are launching a NEW action learning group to support you!

In recognition of the real and complex challenges facing any Board of Trustees, planning for succession of the Chair is one that may be daunting for trustees to consider. Having a peer group to talk with in a confidential setting could be the answer, if you are looking to take on the role. In light of this, at HCF Training & Development, we are launching a new group for those who feel that they want to build their confidence to take on a Chair role.

Action learning is a practical, group-coaching methodology that can resolve issue and enable both individuals and organisations to thrive. You will build your network, have improved problem solving and leadership capacity and will build your adaptability and resilience.

The programme will run from September 2021 -January 2022 and we can fund up to x 6 individual places. Groups will meet monthly on a Friday, 10.00- 12.00 on the following dates:
  • 10 September 2021

  • 08 October 2021

  • 12 November 2021

  • 10 December 2021

  • 14 January 2022

Eligibility:
  • The programme is open to all Hertfordshire voluntary organisations that provide Adult Care Services.

  • Places will then be allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis, with priority given to organisations that have not taken part in Building Effectiveness or Better Boards before

  • Anyone who is a current trustee, with an aspiration to become a chair can apply.

Full details of the programme and how to apply can be found in the documents below:
