Funding Local Causes

Giving and philanthropy

People, businesses and other charities give through us and benefit from our philanthropy advice, giving options and community knowledge. No matter what the size or type of gift you want to make, we will make sure your giving is rewarding, hassle-free and matches your wishes and means. We can accept eligible gifts of cash, shares and property and we can help you give time and expertise.

At Hertfordshire Community Foundation, we provide a personal service to help people invest in their local area. Individuals, families and companies work with us to give their money, time or skills to help meet the specific needs of Hertfordshire's residents.

We use our financial expertise to grow and build donors’ charitable gifts to create a permanent, flexible source of funding for those who need it most. We have in-depth local knowledge, so can match donors’ passions and interests to grassroots projects that are helping tackle key issues and enhancing the lives of those in some of our most disadvantaged communities.

Charitable giving via a community foundation can help you give back to your local area in several ways:

  • For larger, long-term investments in the community, many individuals and corporates choose to set up a named fund as an alternative to establishing their own private trust.

  • Where a donor wishes to support a particular cause or location, often the best approach is to donate to one of our existing themed funds.

  • Those who wish to make regular or occasional smaller donations between £5 and £1,000 can do so by visiting our donate now page or by completing the regular giving form below.

  • You can also give your time, skills and expertise to your local community. We are always on the look-out for like-minded people with experience and passion to share with our community of people.
Prosperity requires not just investment in economic capital, but also in social capital. Community Foundations are playing a critical role in helping to delivery a more inclusive capitalism.
Mark Carney, Governor of the Bank of England

Named Funds

For larger, long-term investments in the community, many individuals and corporates choose to set up a named fund

A fund in your name is a simple and effective alternative to setting up your own charity or trust. It gives you the opportunity to choose the cause and projects that you wish to support, with the benefit of local expertise to ensure that your giving is effective and used wisely.
Very many thanks for the funding - it makes a life-changing different to us.
