You can decide to have a fund named after you, your family or in a way that reflects something important to you. Leaving a legacy in your Will to Hertfordshire Community Foundation is a simple way to go on helping your community for generations to come.
We can also set up family or other funds in your life time where you can see the impact of your charitable giving and encourage other family members to become involved.
There are several types of gift you can leave in your Will including a fixed sum gift or a residuary gift. A residuary gift is where you choose to leave a percentage of your estate to HCF after all other bequests to your family and friends have been made and all debts, taxes and expenses have been paid.
If you would like to leave a gift in your Will your solicitor may wish to use wording based on the following:
“I give the sum of £______ (or specify percentage of estate) to the Hertfordshire Community Foundation of Foundation House, 2-4 Forum Place, Fiddlebridge Lane, Hatfield AL10 0RN (Registered Charity Number 1156082) for its general purposes (or specify an area of focus) and I declare that the receipt of the Foundation Director or other proper officer of the said Hertfordshire Community Foundation for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy.”
Making or updating a Will does not have to be expensive or complicated. However, we strongly recommend that you seek legal advice in drafting, and the correct execution of, a Will or codicil.
