Making your board meetings more effective

Are you making progress in your board meetings? Do you have some trustees that take over the meeting? Do you want to improve the effectiveness of your meetings? This online workshop will look at ways of ensuring that you have constructive, focussed, and effective Board meetings.

This workshop has been developed as part of the HCF Better Boards Springboard webinar series: A collection of training designed to support Hertfordshire trustees and improve board effectiveness.

Who the course is for
This course is open to trustees, chairs, CEO's and Safeguarding leads from Hertfordshire VCS organisations.

Course Content:

This session will look at how to develop an annual plan for your Board meetings, create constructive and practical agendas and concise and focussed minutes, as well as looking at how to evaluate the effectiveness of your Board meetings. It will also look at practical tips for chairing meetings and ensuring that people's contributions are meaningful

This workshop will support trustees to:
  • Learn how to develop an annual meetings’ plan

  • Learn how to develop meaningful agendas that deliver on their purpose

  • Take away practical tips for chairing and participating in meetings

  • Discover how to write minutes that are clear, concise and read



About the trainers:

This course will be led by Robin Hodgkinson. Robin is a freelance voluntary sector trainer and consultant, and HCF Training & Development Better Boards trainer. Robin Hodgkinson has been delivering training courses in the sector for over two decades, covering VCS management and trustee board training. He wrote an online Trustee training course, endorsed by the Charity Commission and is also an assessor for the Trusted Charity Mark quality award.
