Over 40 enthusiastic participants gathered in the picturesque Hertfordshire countryside in Buntingford on a sunny morning on 18 April to raise funds and awareness for a good cause. The spring walk was organised by Hertfordshire Community Foundation’s (HCF) Ambassador Henrietta Buxton and graciously hosted by HCF Trustee James Hopkins and his wife Sarah.
The walk, which spanned over 5 miles, offered participants a scenic journey whilst raising both funds and awareness for the work of HCF. HCF is a charity which uses donations from individuals, families and organisations to support the backbone of Hertfordshire's communities - the small charities that serve those most in need.
One such small charity is
Mudlarks, based in nearby Hertford, who support adults with learning disabilities and mental health concerns. Victoria Hobson and Adam Lynch spoke at the walk bringing to life how vital grant funding is to small charities and the important part small charities play in Hertfordshire's social fabric.
Paul Robin, CEO of Hertfordshire Community Foundation said; “Our grateful thanks go to everyone that participated in the walk and of course Henrietta Buxton and the Hopkins for making it happen. Events like these not only raise funds but also foster a deeper understanding of the issues our local charities tackle every day. Local philanthropy makes a real impact and helps sustain some of our vital small charities and voluntary groups as they meet increasing demands for their services. With the help of our generous donors we can make a real difference in the lives of some of our most vulnerable residents and help our communities thrive.”
Hertfordshire Community Foundation is the leading independent grant-making charity in Hertfordshire, providing funds that sustain a wide range of activities in Hertfordshire including foodbanks, counselling services, support for domestic abuse survivors, help for people facing homelessness or food and fuel poverty or loneliness and isolation. Every penny donated stays within Hertfordshire.
