Course content:
This course has been developed directly in response to the COVID-19 crisis (in partnership with #TeamHerts Volunteering), to give new volunteers the training and confidence to start volunteering, quickly and safely.
As a volunteer you may be helping people you’ve never met before, this can present new challenges and risks. This webinar trains volunteers on the best procedures to follow to ensure both their own safety, and the safety of the person who is self-isolating . The training covers health & safety advice around reducing the risk of passing on the Coronavirus, good volunteer practice, safeguarding adults at risk, communication and lone working.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Describe your health and safety responsibilities
- Maintain professional standards and boundaries
- Minimise the risk of transferring Coronavirus to a vulnerable adult
- Explain the reasons for safeguarding adults
- Recognise signs of abuse and neglect
- Respond to a concern about abuse or neglect
- Explain the reasons people take risks
- Minimise the risks of working alone
- Take steps to defuse aggression

Trainers:
Training Together Jon Clarke and Mark Sutton from 'Training Together' have extensive experience in a variety of operational and training roles and careers, spanning over thirty years in the Metropolitan Police Service. For the last six years they have successfully delivered many courses, including their popular 'Lone Worker, Managing Confrontational and Aggressive Behaviour' course, to a variety of third sector organisations in Herts and Bucks.
Community Action Dacorum Shaddy Mansouri-Marsh from 'Community Action Dacorum', has extensive experience in a variety of education and management roles spanning 15 years in the charity and private sectors. Shaddy has managed and trained teams of tutors, staff and volunteers in various subjects including soft skills such as confidence, to safeguarding, equality & diversity.
