A group of enthusiastic supporters gathered in the picturesque Hertfordshire countryside near Ware on a sunny morning on 22 April to raise funds and awareness for local charities.
The Spring Walk was organised and hosted by Hertfordshire Community Foundation’s (HCF) Ambassador, Henrietta Buxton. Spanning over five miles, the route offered participants a scenic and enjoyable way to support HCF’s work across the county.
HCF connects the generosity of individuals, families and businesses with the small, local charities that form the backbone of Hertfordshire’s communities—supporting those most in need.
One such charity is
CHEXS, a family support organisation working with families and young people across the borough of Broxbourne. CHEXS CEO, Peter Maiden, spoke during the walk, bringing to life the vital role grant funding plays in enabling small charities to continue their essential work and the important contribution they make to Hertfordshire’s social fabric.
Paul Robin, CEO of Hertfordshire Community Foundation, said:“Our sincere thanks go to everyone who took part in the walk, and of course to Henrietta and Nicholas Buxton for making it happen. Events like these not only raise valuable funds but also deepen understanding of the challenges our local charities face every day. Local philanthropy has a powerful impact, helping small charities and community groups respond to growing demand for their services. With the support of our generous donors, we can continue to make a real difference to some of Hertfordshire’s most vulnerable residents and help our communities thrive.”
Hertfordshire Community Foundation is the county’s leading independent grant-making charity, supporting a wide range of local initiatives—from foodbanks and counselling services to support for survivors of domestic abuse, and those experiencing homelessness, poverty, loneliness and isolation. Every penny donated stays within Hertfordshire.
