Hertfordshire based charity,
Electric Umbrella, has captured the hearts of the nation with their unforgettable performance on
Britain’s Got Talent. The inspiring group, which empowers learning disabled and neurodivergent people through inclusive music workshops, performances, and community engagement, received the coveted Golden Buzzer, securing their place in the semi-finals of the hit ITV show.
Electric Umbrella’s mission is to challenge perceptions and celebrate learning disabled and neurodivergent individuals for who they truly are. Their message, “There’s no such thing as normal”, resonated deeply with both the audience and the judges, earning them a standing ovation and national recognition for their incredible work.
Paul Robin, CEO of Hertfordshire Community Foundation said; “We could not be prouder of Electric Umbrella’s success. As a grant-making charity dedicated to supporting small charities across the county, we were privileged to award Electric Umbrella with one of their first grants when they were just starting out in 2016. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we have continued to provide funding over the years, enabling Electric Umbrella to grow, reach more people, and offer a variety of life-changing services within our communities.
Their journey from a grassroots initiative to a national stage is a testament to the power of local giving and community support. Seeing their impact recognised on such a grand platform highlights why it is so crucial to support small charities that are making a difference.”
