More than £30,000 has been raised in a county-wide initiative to help struggling individuals, families and charities this winter during the cost-of-living crisis, but more is still needed.
“We are very grateful for the response we’ve had so far from people across Hertfordshire to our Cost-of-Living Winter Appeal,” said Helen Gray, Foundation Director of Hertfordshire Community Foundation. “As a result, we have been able to fund projects supporting children living in poverty and those struggling with food and fuel bills. The need for support is greater than ever. The latest data shows that more than 55,000 households in Hertfordshire are living in fuel poverty and this is rising despite local and national government support. Now that the cold winter weather has arrived the cost-of-living crisis is having a profound impact on the lives of many people across Hertfordshire.
“I encourage anyone who is in the position to do so to please support our appeal and give to help others in Hertfordshire.”
Helen concluded; “In addition to making a donation local people can also play a significant role in promoting the campaign and helping us spread the word across our county.”
Donations to the appeal will be used to help pay for fuel, fund local food projects and support local charities, which are themselves facing huge challenges.
