Funding Local Causes

White Good Professional Referrals

Hospital Community Navigation Service (HCNS) is now providing white goods for residents in need - funded by Hertfordshire County Council

Who can make a referral ?

Professionals supporting adults and families in need can make a referral to HCNS for consideration for white goods.

You can apply for white goods on behalf of your client if:

  • they don’t have enough money to meet their or their family’s immediate needs after an emergency or disaster

  • you think there will be serious damage or risk to your client's health or safety without the white good

  • there is no other help available to them.

If you are an individual in crisis, please contact Herts Help.

The Referral Process

To make a referral to Hertfordshire Community Navigation Service (HCNS) on behalf of your client please complete the referral form below and email it to the relevant team (based on where your client lives - see checklist).

HCNS will arrange a visit to the client and undertake a needs assessment for white goods including financial checks. If successful HCNS will identify the client's needs, order the white goods and arrange delivery, making relevant further referrals if necessary. HCNS will contact the original referrer and advise of the outcome.

Please note a referral is not a guarantee of white goods and you should make sure your client is advised of this. Referrals can only be made by professionals and applications sent from personal emails will be automatically declined. HCNS will accept a verification email from your professional authorised domain, to verify a client's identity.

HCNS/HCC defines a professional as any professional working for a social care organisation or anyone who can legally sign a passport photo.
