Your Workforce: Your Future 2019

HCF Training and Development held its annual event on Wednesday 10th July at the Focolare Centre in Welwyn Garden City

48 people attended the event from voluntary and community organisations in Hertfordshire.

The programme included the launch of HCF's VCS Training Programme for 2019-20 presented by HCF Project Manager, Sarah Elliott. This was followed by Mark Gwynne, Hertfordshire County Council who demonstrated the new recruitment and Care Academy services launched this year by HCPA. There was a lively discussion session around the relevance of these services for the VCS and how they might be adapted for the sector. Nick Denham from the Hertfordshire Music Service presented on the health and being benefits of arts and sports activities and introduced next year's Hertfordshire Year of Culture. Sue Pearlman, HCF's lead trainer for the Better Boards Programme gave an entertaining overview of her experience in working with Trustee Boards - "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly". Bianca Badham from Earthworks was our featured case study explaing what good governance now looks like for her organisation. The audience then participated in group discussions exploring the 7 Principles of good governance from the 2017 Charity Governance Code.
