Level 3 award in education and training

An introductory qualification for those wanting to take on an assessor, trainer or teacher role

Who the course is for
This course is particularly suited to candidates who have at least a Level 3 qualification in the subject they want to teach to learners aged 16 and over. The qualification is not approved for anyone under 19 years old. To be accepted on the course you should have a minimum Level 2 English qualification, (i.e. O Level pass, GCSE A-C grade or Adult Literacy Level 2) and/or pass the initial assessment at this level, in week one of the programme.

This course is subsidised for tutors delivering training in Hertfordshire for organisations that provide adult social care. Once eligibility for the funding is confirmed, applicants will be required to complete an enrolment form for the college. All confirmed applicants will need to attend and pass an initial assessment session on Wednesday 13 January 2021, in order to continue to fully enrol on the course.

Health & safety notice
Oaklands College will be delivering this course “in person”, following latest government guidance on Health and Safety in the light of Covid-19. During sessions students will be socially distanced in a room that accommodates max of 10 people.
Candidates must wear a mask or if they are exempt we would like them to wear a visor (we will supply them with a student card with an appropriately coloured lanyard).

Course content
The Level 3 Award gives an insight into the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training, how to plan and deliver inclusive teaching/training sessions and how to assess and give constructive and developmental feedback. Please note that in order to be successful on this course, learners will need to spend around three hours a week outside class time studying to complete their course work.

Learning outcomes
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (6502) has been designed as the appropriate introductory qualification for those seeking a ‘stepping stone’ to qualifications that entitle them to teach in either an assessor, trainer or teacher role in the Lifelong Learning Sector in England.

Cost:
This course is subsidised for tutors delivering training in Hertfordshire for organisations that provide adult social care. However, there is a contribution fee for all participants of £90 for paid staff and £45 for volunteers. Your place on the course will not be secured until this payment has been made directly to HCF Training & Development.
