An introduction to your role and responsibilities, and the support available to you as a trustee in Hertfordshire.

This workshop has been developed as part of the HCF Better Boards online trustee training series, a collection of training designed to support Hertfordshire trustees and improve board effectiveness.

Who the course is for
This course is aimed at new trustees or those with some experience who would like a refresher on their role, from Hertfordshire VCSE organisations.

    Course Content:

    So, you're a new trustee? Congratulations, we're here to support you! This workshop will be led in partnership with #TeamHerts Volunteering and will provide you with an introduction to what you can expect in your role and what support is available to you.

    The workshop will:
    • Outline your role and responsibilities

    • Introduce you to the foundation pillars of the Charity Governance Code

    • Explore what makes a good trustee

    • Give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have

    • Provide you with resources to support you in your role and signpost to support available to you in Hertfordshire




    About the trainer:

    Sue Pearlman is the lead Governance trainer for HCF and Better Boards, a trustee for Communities 1st and consultant for NCVO. Sue has a wealth of experience in the voluntary sector and is a skilled facilitator, trainer, supervisor and mentor. She is passionate about the potential of the voluntary sector and understands the different roles that trustees, managers, staff, volunteers, clients, funders and other stakeholders play.

    Jack Leggetter is the Digital marketing and events officer for #TeamHerts Volunteering, with experience supporting organisations across the Hertfordshire charity sector. He is a social media whizz, always full of great new ideas for recruiting volunteers and delivers volunteer networking and training sessions across the county for #TeamHerts Volunteering.

The spring walk was organised by Hertfordshire Community Foundation’s (HCF) Ambassador Henrietta Buxton and graciously hosted by HCF Trustee James Hopkins and his wife Sarah.
    High Sheriff Awards celebrate charitable projects across Hertfordshire
