Volunteering safely: Remote befriending

This fully funded webinar is an introduction to volunteering safely with vulnerable adults in response to COVID-19. This course ensures that volunteers can provide a service that is safe, both for themselves and the person who is self-isolating.

Who the course is for
This course is suitable for new volunteers in a remote befriending role. The course is suitable for people who have not had any volunteer safety training before, or those who would like a refresher on best practice in response to COVID-19.

Date available:
  • Wednesday 3rd June 10.00-12.30 BOOK HERE

  • Course content:

This course has been developed directly in response to the COVID-19 crisis (in partnership with #TeamHerts Volunteering), to give new volunteers the training and confidence to start volunteering, quickly and safely.

This webinar trains volunteers on the best procedures to follow to ensure both their own safety, and the safety of the person who is self-isolating . By the end of the course you will be able to:
    • Describe your health and safety responsibilities

    • Maintain professional standards and boundaries

    • Minimise the risk of transferring Coronavirus to a vulnerable adult

    • Explain the reasons for safeguarding adults

    • Recognise signs of abuse and neglect

    • Respond to a concern about abuse or neglect
