Volunteering with vulnerable adults: delivering and dog walking

This free webinar ensures that volunteers can provide a service that is safe for themselves and the person who is self-isolating .

When you volunteer, you will be helping people you’ve never met before and this presents challenges and risks.
Voluntary organisations have a moral and legal duty to keep two very important people safe: the person you are volunteering to help, and you. This course teaches you about procedures to follow in order to keep you and everyone else safe, especially on reducing the risk of passing on the Coronavirus.

BOOK COURSE

Course content:

  • How to keep the person you are helping safe. In particular, we look at the latest and best guidance on reducing the risk of passing on the Coronavirus.
  • What you should do if you feel that someone may be facing other risks. For example if they do not appear able to look after themselves or they are being neglected.
  • How you can keep yourself safe, according to voluntary organisations procedures for staff and volunteers.
  • Lone working: Coronavirus means that you will be working alone so we look at how you can stay safe whilst working by yourself.
  • Defusing aggressive behaviour. Coronavirus and isolation can create fear, so this may cause some people to feel frustrated and behave in an aggressive way. These procedures equip you with a safety belt for those rare occasions when things do not go smoothly.
