Better Boards - Trustee Development Programme

A comprehensive programme of training and consultancy for trustees, developed to improve the effectiveness of Hertfordshire charities.

NEW Funded places available July 2021 for Children & Youth organisations in Hertfordshire

Better Boards is a 10x hour programme of consultancy and training for trustee boards of voluntary and community organisations in Hertfordshire. The Better Boards programme will introduce your board to the key principles of good governance as outlined in The Charity Governance Code. The full programme has been adapted to run online in 2021. Practical exercises and discussion will be encouraged to ensure the training is made relevant and to ensure that what is learned can be applied in practice. Supporting resources, checklists and training aids will be provided to your board alongside 1:1 consultancy and whole board training. The programme includes:

  • 1:1 individual consultation for the CEO & Chair

  • 'Principles of Good Governance' training to the whole board based on the seven pillars of The Charity Governance Code

  • In-house training for your trustees tailored to your organisational needs. You can choose from a number of Bite-size sessions on topics such as 'Safeguarding for Trustees' , 'Risk Management' or 'Recruiting a diverse board'.

The full cost of the Better Boards 2021 programme is £1,250.

HCF Training & Development can provide a variety of fully funded places for voluntary sector organisations in Hertfordshire. Please just indicate the type of organisation and service you deliver under the payment/funding options at the bottom of the application form.

We currently have fully funded places available for both Adults and Children & Youth organisations on the 2021 programme.
