Many charities will be adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and good governance will be crucial in responding to the crisis. During these uncertain times, strong leadership will be vital in ensuring sustainability for local organisations.

Good Governance during COVID-19 and beyond is a series of webinars under our Better Boards programme, to improve the effectiveness of Hertfordshire’s voluntary sector, to help aid response & recovery during COVID-19. If a charity is well run, they will be more likely to meet the growing demand for services in Hertfordshire.

Who the course is for
'Starting or changing to a social enterprise model' is intended to support existing board members & staff, as well as potential social enterprise founders. Please note: You do not need to be associated with an existing organisation to register for this course, as long as you are a Hertfordshire resident.

Course content:
'Starting or changing to a social enterprise model' will include:
  • The fundamental differences of a charity & Community Interest Company (CIC)

  • Members & voting rights

  • Examples of CIC annual documents

  • Application process

  • Examples of good enterprise



Learning outcomes:
 By the end of the course you will be able to:
  • Feel informed to make a decision on creating a Social Enterprise

  • Understand how to safeguard the intellectual property of materials

  • Carry out a skills diagnostic

  • Explain what your next steps will be and where to ask for further help



Trainer:
 All our interactive, online courses will be led by one of our experienced Better Boards trainers or in collaboration with Impactful Governance, a Hertfordshire based governance training provider.

'Starting or changing to a social enterprise model' will be led by Impactful Governance, a team of experienced consultants providing advisory support, coaching & training to community organisations. Impactful Governance help charities to to recognise & deliver their charitable aims, determine clear governance and advise on best practice.

You will be directed to a registration form and will receive a webinar link once you have completed the registration. You can use your laptop, tablet or mobile phone to join the webinar. Sessions are interactive and there will be a Q&A opportunity at the end of the session.
