Grants of up to £10,000 to support Afghan arrivals in our community

Next application deadline: Midnight 6th January 2022 for decisions in early February. If you applied for our 26th October deadline you will hear the outcome before the end of December.

Grants of up to £10,000 are available to groups operating in Hertfordshire to support the needs of those recently arrived from Afghanistan. This includes but is not limited to issues around mental health, community integration and cohesion, employability skills, and family support.
HCF are looking for projects that:
  • Are meeting an identified need, in this case one addressing issues faced by the recent Afghan arrivals.
  • Can demonstrate how the money requested will help them to make a positive difference (i.e. have clear objectives and outcomes).
  • Are well thought through and costed appropriately.
  • Are well connected to the communities they serve.
  • Will be able to spend the funding requested within 12 months of the grant being awarded.

To apply for a grant, projects and groups must also meet our usual HCF Large Grant criteria, available as a pdf below.

Please note you can hold an Afghan Arrivals Fund grant and a HCF Large grant at the same time, but not for the same work and you must submit one application before starting the other.

For more information, please call the grants team on 01707 251351 or email

We do not have a separate programme for this fund. To make an application via HCF Large Grants click here.
