Better Boards Programme: Train the Trainer

Learn how to deliver training to trustee boards as part of HCF’s Better Boards programme

Who this course is for
Applicants are required to evidence experience of:
  • Working in the voluntary and community sector in a management role

  • Being a member of a trustee board/management committee

  • Providing advice and support to other voluntary and community organisations

  • Delivering training (qualified to a minimum of Level 3 Award in Education & Training/PTLLS – or be willing to undertake this course)

You will also need to be in a position to commit to delivering a specific number of training sessions in Hertfordshire during 2019 to be considered for a role in HCF’s team.

Course Content

  • Resume of the 2017 Charity Governance Code

  • HCF Governance Course for Trustee boards – how to deliver including practice with the materials and key exercises

  • Conducting Better Boards programme consultations with organisations

  • Better Boards – Bite Size issue workshops – we will work through a few examples

  • Dealing with common challenges in trustee training

  • Resources and further reading

Learning Outcomes

By attending this course you will:
  • Learn how to deliver HCF’s Governance Course, Better Boards Consultations and Bite-Size workshops

  • Be confident to facilitate the exercises and deal with common challenges that arise

  • Know about relevant resources for yourself as a trainer and to recommend to delegates

  • Be equipped to contribute to the delivery of HCF’s Better Boards programme

About the Trainer

Sue Pearlman has over 30 years’ experience in the voluntary sector. She has been a volunteer, a staff member and a CEO before starting her own consultancy where she specialises in governance and senior management issues. Sue is also a senior consultant for NCVO.
